The Webster Technique

The Webster technique is a specific chiropractic analysis and diversified adjustment. The goal of the adjustment is to reduce the effects of subluxation and/or SI joint dysfunction. In so doing neurobiomechanical function in the sacral/pelvic region is improved.
Sacral subluxation may contribute to difficult labor for the mother (i.e., dystocia), caused by inadequate uterine function, pelvic contraction, and baby mal-presentation. Correction of sacral subluxation may have a positive effect on all of these causes of dystocia.

Prenatal chiropractic adjustments have also been shown to help the body improve many common pregnancy complaints:

Sciatica, acid reflux, sleeping challenges, low back pain, pubic bone pain, round ligament pain, headaches, and improved overall comfort.

The Miracle Wave® | Piezo

What is Miracle Wave?

Shock wave therapy (also known as ESWT) is a modern, non-invasive treatment that uses high-intensity sound waves (acoustic pulses) to help promote healing faster and more effectively - with no downtime. It is a therapy used worldwide in the field of sport's medicine and physical therapy.

Shock wave therapy transmits high peak acoustic pressure waves to promote and accelerate healing for chronic and subacute conditions. Research supports shock wave therapy as an effective treatment for various soft tissue injuries, musculoskeletal pain and mobility issues.

Biological benefits include:

  • Reduce pain faster
  • Improve range of motion
  • Increase blood flow and micro circulation
  • Stimulate tissue remodeling and neovascularization
  • Remodel fibrotic tissue and release trigger points
  • Reverse chronic inflammation
  • Increase nitric oxide (NO)
  • Activates stem cells and growth factors

How does it work?

Shock wave therapy utilizes advanced acoustic wave technology sending noninvasive high-peak pressure waves into injured tissue quickly alleviating pain while also kickstarting the angiogenesis process, accelerating tissue regeneration, and restoring mobility and function to affected areas. Shock wave therapy is known under many names such as acoustic pressure wave therapy (APWT), extracorporeal pulse activation therapy (EPAT), and acoustic wave therapy (AWT); however, the two main categorizes of shock wave therapy are categorized as radial and focused waves. Radial shock wave therapy is optimal for a wider variety of indications, whereas focused shock wave therapy offers a deeper penetration for targeted conditions.

k laser, class 4

Cellular Effects of K-Laser Therapy

During K-Laser Therapy the infrared laser light interacts with tissues at the cellular level and metabolic activity increases within the cell, improving the transport of nutrients across the cell membrane. This initiates the production of cellular energy (ATP) that leads to a cascade of beneficial effects, increasing cellular function and health.

K-Laser (Class IV)

Class IV K-Laser Therapy is a Pain Free application delivering infrared laser light to the affected tissue. This promotes increased circulation, decreased swelling, reduction of pain, and accelerated healing and tissue repair. Our doctors specialize in K-Laser Therapy; they find it very beneficial in treating of soft tissue Injuries, sprains, strains, repetitive strain injuries as well as back, elbow, arm and neck pains.

Laser Therapy, or “photobiomodulation”, is the use of specific wavelengths of light (red and near-infrared) to create therapeutic effects. These effects include improved healing time, pain reduction, increased circulation and decreased swelling. Laser Therapy has been widely utilized in Europe by physical therapists, nurses and doctors as far back as the 1970’s. Now, after FDA clearance in 2002, Laser Therapy is being used extensively in the United States.

Back to Balance Wellness Center FAQs

  • At Back to Balance Wellness Center

From the womb to the playground, a healthy spine is vital. We provide specialized, ultra-gentle care for expecting mothers to ease the strain of pregnancy and for children to ensure they grow up with a balanced nervous system.

  • Will it hurt my baby or my child?

Not at all. For infants, the pressure used for an adjustment is no more than you would use to test the ripeness of a tomato. For pregnant moms, we use specialized pillows and table settings so there is never any pressure on the belly. It is incredibly gentle and safe.

  • Is this just "mini" adult chiropractic?

No. Children’s spines are mostly cartilage and are very mobile. We use completely different techniques for kids—often just a sustained, light touch. For pregnancy, we focus on the Webster Technique to balance the pelvis and ligaments, making more room for the baby to move.

  • Is it safe to get adjusted while pregnant?

It is not only safe; it is highly recommended. Keeping the pelvis aligned can lead to shorter labor times and less back pain during the third trimester. We are specifically trained to handle the unique physiological changes that happen during every stage of pregnancy.

  • Does it really help with things like colic or ear infections?

While we don't "treat" ear infections, we do treat the nervous system interference that can prevent the ears from draining properly. By aligning the upper neck, we help the body’s natural drainage and immune systems work the way they were designed to.

  • Why do some kids respond instantly while others take time?

Children’s nervous systems are like sponges—they usually learn very fast. However, if a child had a traumatic birth or has been hitting developmental milestones with a misaligned spine, it may take a few "reminders" for their body to hold the correct pattern.
