The Miracle Wave® | Piezo

What is Miracle Wave?

Shock wave therapy (also known as ESWT) is a modern, non-invasive treatment that uses high-intensity sound waves (acoustic pulses) to help promote healing faster and more effectively - with no downtime. It is a therapy used worldwide in the field of sport's medicine and physical therapy.

Shock wave therapy transmits high peak acoustic pressure waves to promote and accelerate healing for chronic and subacute conditions. Research supports shock wave therapy as an effective treatment for various soft tissue injuries, musculoskeletal pain and mobility issues.

Biological benefits include:

  • Reduce pain faster
  • Improve range of motion
  • Increase blood flow and micro circulation
  • Stimulate tissue remodeling and neovascularization
  • Remodel fibrotic tissue and release trigger points
  • Reverse chronic inflammation
  • Increase nitric oxide (NO)
  • Activates stem cells and growth factors

How does it work?

Shock wave therapy utilizes advanced acoustic wave technology sending noninvasive high-peak pressure waves into injured tissue quickly alleviating pain while also kickstarting the angiogenesis process, accelerating tissue regeneration, and restoring mobility and function to affected areas. Shock wave therapy is known under many names such as acoustic pressure wave therapy (APWT), extracorporeal pulse activation therapy (EPAT), and acoustic wave therapy (AWT); however, the two main categorizes of shock wave therapy are categorized as radial and focused waves. Radial shock wave therapy is optimal for a wider variety of indications, whereas focused shock wave therapy offers a deeper penetration for targeted conditions.

k laser, class 4

Cellular Effects of K-Laser Therapy

During K-Laser Therapy the infrared laser light interacts with tissues at the cellular level and metabolic activity increases within the cell, improving the transport of nutrients across the cell membrane. This initiates the production of cellular energy (ATP) that leads to a cascade of beneficial effects, increasing cellular function and health.

K-Laser (Class IV)

Class IV K-Laser Therapy is a Pain Free application delivering infrared laser light to the affected tissue. This promotes increased circulation, decreased swelling, reduction of pain, and accelerated healing and tissue repair. Our doctors specialize in K-Laser Therapy; they find it very beneficial in treating of soft tissue Injuries, sprains, strains, repetitive strain injuries as well as back, elbow, arm and neck pains.

Laser Therapy, or “photobiomodulation”, is the use of specific wavelengths of light (red and near-infrared) to create therapeutic effects. These effects include improved healing time, pain reduction, increased circulation and decreased swelling. Laser Therapy has been widely utilized in Europe by physical therapists, nurses and doctors as far back as the 1970’s. Now, after FDA clearance in 2002, Laser Therapy is being used extensively in the United States.

Back to Balance Wellness Center FAQs

  • At Back to Balance Wellness Center

Some patients prefer a "no-pop" adjustment. We utilize high-tech instruments like the Impulse and Arthrostim to provide precise, high-speed adjustments that are incredibly effective without the need for manual twisting.

  • Does the instrument hurt when it clicks?

Not at all. The instruments move so fast that your muscles don't have time to "tense up" against them. It feels like a light tapping or a fast "thumping" sensation on the skin. It’s very localized and much more comfortable for patients who are nervous about manual clicking.

  • Is a machine as effective as a doctor’s hands?

These instruments are simply extensions of the doctor's hands. They allow us to deliver a force that is 100x faster than a manual thrust. This speed allows us to move the bone with less total force, which is often more effective for patients with high muscle tension.

  • Is it safer than a manual adjustment?

Instrument adjusting is exceptionally safe because it is controlled and measurable. There is no rotation of the neck or lower back involved. This makes it the "gold standard" for adjusting infants, the elderly, or patients with acute inflammatory conditions.

  • How does a "tap" move a bone?

It’s all about physics. Because the instrument is so fast, it creates a specific frequency that resonates with the joint. This "resonance" allows the joint to unlock and move back into alignment without the need for a heavy "crunch."

  • Why do results vary between instrument and manual care?

Some nervous systems respond better to the "speed" of an instrument, while others respond better to the "leverage" of a manual adjustment. We often use a combination of both. Your results depend on how your specific joints respond to different types of "input."
